I am totally in love with turquoise and happy to report that I won a 16" string of large turquoise beads from ebay for only 61 cents..  I am so excited and cant wait for their delivery and what I can do with them.....have to start getting some ideas ........

Stupendous Saturday

You ask what can be so stupendous about a Saturday....first, off from work....then went for manicure, was going to eat out but hubby not feeling well.  Could be the heat but decided to go home, crank up the AC and straighten this house out.  Starting to look good...all toys away, dusting, mopping and still have to do laundry...using up those towels like mad.

I opened up a new jewelry shop .... etsy wasnt going anywhere...going to let the rest of my jewelry play out and then close the shop.....found a new website and trying this one out....

TGIF

I know I havent posted in almost a week but I work in a school and this is the week that was hectic.  Graduation, stepping up, award ceremonies, prom, end term dinner, and the usual business has made me exhausted.  My jewelry business is at a full stop (although I found time to order more beads....turquoise, cant wait to get them) and my reading has stopped also.  So, I am looking forward to summer where I will get up late, read, stay on my diet, take side trips, and delve into my jewelry business.

I will be in the process of cleaning up my jewels - there are so many beads and scrabble tiles I dont use so maybe this weekend I will take pictures and put them on ebay or etsy so I can purchase newer beads....

If anyone is on the lookout for scrabble tiles for crafting let me know.....I think I still have some left....

Photography

I have been using Susan Tuttle's new book Digital Expressions and have been having fun....I took this older picture of my husband and grandson on the beach and then took another picture of my grandson making a face and combined them - and look what I got!

Her book has so many projects that I havent even started yet but this will keep me busy this summer.....the list of things you can do is endless...and so much fun.

It is not enough that I am constantly busy, but have decided to embark on another career in my life.  You never know.  The brand new camera, Olympus E520, that my husband bought for me has inspired me to take a whole new area of pictures.  I bought the book, Digital Expressions, which was at a great price and now I am totally engrossed in it.  I didnt do the picture above with it, but think of the possibilities....going to get engrossed in the book and see what I can do....not for anything, but there are so many pictures out there....
.....and I do have many grandchildren.....

Taking care of myself....

Finally on my way to losing weight.  It has always been a struggle for me and somehow I feel this summer I will tackle this albatros around my neck, waist, legs, arms....lol.....I also plan on taking Zumba classes this summer.....I will start with once a week and see what happens.....I decided it was time to do something for myself this year....I have always taken care of everyone else, now is my time.....

Breast Cancer

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer for 2010 has started its campaign to raise money to once again try to wipe out this terrible disease.  Unfortunately this disease has hit people I work with more than once and once again I will be walking in Prospect Park come October.....so this time I am starting to reach out to people to give what they can, $5, $10- whatever you can afford. 

The above link brings you to my page through the American Cancer Society website - donations are secure....I will be posting pictures of the latest walk - we call ourselves the Honeybees, for a friends sister......My goal is $2500 ......

Cyclone Friday

The Brooklyn Cyclones, a minor league baseball team here in Brooklyn honored my school on Friday with a visit from one of their mascots, Pee Wee.  With the help of our Parent Coordinator, far right, we were able to get him to come to visit many of our classrooms, roam around the school greeting both children and teachers alike....

He even made a stop at the school cafeteria......
