Found a fellow grandma..........while I love the young ones and all their babies (I did the whole stay at home scene with my five kids) it is nice to meet a fellow grandma and share grandkids stories.... all it shows is that life flies by so fast, so enjoy every minute and kiss your children often.....hugs too....

BESTeam Feature - Retroposh

When I was first assigned to feature Retroposh I said to myself "What?"  Most people have simple names for their blogs.  But what exactly does retroposh mean?  I could not find the meaning of the word.  So I split it....retro= a trend; and posh = luxurious.......

Well, that is exactly what Kristy has in her shop......A trend of luxurious items waiting for you.  There are the most wonderful tutus in her shop of all different colors....and if you are not into tutus (I only have grandsons)......then check out the assortment of bows she has to offer...

Kristy only opened her shop in October of 2010 and already she is on a selling streak....her prices are very reasonable.


But if you had to ask me what I like about her shop, I would have to point out that she has the most amazing converse shoes.........for babies............they are absolutely unbelievable.....I truly wish I had a baby girl to give them to.......

So today I will quietly wait for the blizzard of December 2010.....didn't the Almanac say a mild winter....In fact, I looked it up today and it said rain and mild....where is that Almanac guy?  and who is he....?

So there is plenty of food in the fridge, doing laundry today....will take in the summer chairs and table from the deck.....and then plan to go upstairs and be creative....got to get ready for Valentines day and am in a "heart" mood.  Listening to Billy Joel on my Ipod right now.....so he's putting me in the mood....will feature my items here first before putting them on Etsy for the New Year.

So have a relaxing day too.....and wait for the snow!

Time for a change

If you are reading this, you have noticed I did a bit of redecorating on my blog.  It's a new year and while the next week or so will be busy, I decided to make the change now.  I guess I couldnt wait for the new year.  I work in a school and will be off now until January 3.....2011....got to get used to writing that.

So went a little surfing, found some ideas and here I am - a new look.  Hope you like it.....I like change.....and now that I am off.....I will be working on some new ideas for 2011....stay tuned....meantime, if you like what you see - please let me know....

I went and did it..........

..........last night was my 36th wedding anniversary and hubby and I went out to dinner.  We both love chinese food but we are both on diets and usually stay away from it.  But since it was our anniversary, we went out and did it......

starting with a drink to toast each other and way on to the soup, main dish, and even dessert.....came home stuffed since we usually dont eat that much....but it was delicious....

So today we are both back on track and I am not weighing in tomorrow because I do know it wont be to my liking....but I guess special occasions deserve special things.....many happy years of marriage and five children, and six grandchildren later.....he still lights up my life.....my love, my best friend.......

Somber Day with a Sprinkle of Light

Today I went to work, feeling like "another Monday" but realizing it will be a short week.  When I arrived at work I was met with sadness as we found out today that this morning a colleague passed away.  She was retired for about 3 years and although she had cancer we found out she died from a massive heart attack.  When you get to my age and your friends are passing away, it makes you feel even more sad.  That is why we must cherish every day we have here because you never know.

So when another colleague came over to me this afternoon with an attitude and a nasty disposition, I did not retaliate or even get upset.  I let her rant and rave and then quietly told her my side and then instructed her to go to administration if she had any further issues.  I told my boss what happened and she instructed me to document it and attach it to her file.

Life is too short to fight, hug and kiss your children, your family, your parents....we are not here long, so enjoy every minute.

On a happier note, I came home today and checked my computer and found that a piece of my jewelry was featured in the ETSY TREASURY,  so please check it out. and dont forget to find me on Facebook and "like" my jewelry page.     You can never have too many "likes".

If I can save time in a bottle.....

The older I get the more I realize how time is just flying by.  I cant seem to get a handle on all I want to do.  Years ago I would always say to myself that there's always tomorrow.  But at this stage of my life....what is tomorrow.  None of us really know if there is a tomorrow.  So we must treasure today and be happy when tomorrow comes.

I dont want to be morbid but this line of thinking is coming from the thought that there is still so much I want to do and I can seem to get a handle of the time frame.  Do I retire soon? and if I do, what do I do with my life.  I love making jewelry and right now it seems I squeeze it in between my daily life.  Will I have more time for it after I retire?  Well in four days I will be on winter break for school.  I plan to ...or I plan to try to.....set up a specific time during the day to stay in my shop and work on creativity....and if this works, maybe when I retire I will be able to devote more time to it.

Its a plan.....maybe a New Year's Resolution.....what do you say?

Let me ask you something.....

Know I havent been here since Thursday, but the holidays keep me busy along with work and grandkids and whoops the days go by.  Today is Sunday and am feeling lazy.  The wash sits on the steps waiting to go into the laundry, there is soup in the crock pot....cold outside and here I am reading blogs.....

I was reading some blogs and got a thought in my head so finally got over to my blog to put it on paper.......Let me ask?   Do people walk around with cameras?  So many delightful blogs here have such great pictures.  How do they do that?  I come across great things and say I must blog about that, but of course there are no pictures.  I do have a small camera although I love my DSLR.  Do people carry a small camera, take pix and later blog about it....I often wonder - maybe someone can blog about this.....I see food pictures.....I think of taking pictures after I finish the food of course Thanksgiving was different - actually got the food before they ate it.

So can anyone tell me how these pictures get posted?  Should I carry a camera around?  I do find I am drawn to blogs with pictures than without.....so I would like pictures on my blog more.....

I am so excited right now.  Business has been slow...I sell off line more than online....but that will change....at least I am hopeful.  I am starting to socialize more....give out business cards more....and wear some of my jewelry....got a compliment this morning on my "A" pendant and the lady took a business card to look into my shop....

Now that I try to blog more I am making more friends and some of them are so great......like Poe from Moonangelnay who recommended that I check out BESTeams.....well, I applied and they accepted and I am ready to go and jump in......it sounds like a great group of people just helping each other out......thats all we need, a little help from our friends......

Dinner

I am a great cook...have been doing it for almost 40 years....left home, cooked for self, then married.....hubby and I ate easy meals....and then the babies came.....cooked for 7, then we had to get a puppy (he stayed for 13 years) and although there was dog food...he preferred mine.  Then Father in Law moved in.....now you are talking 8 and 1 dog.....of course when the kids got bigger their friends were always over and they ate like boys usually do......

Now that they are all grown, pop and the dog passed on, there is only hubby and me.  And we dont really cook.....sometimes I make a big dinner on Sunday and that means left overs....but hubby is not fussy and now that we can....we like to go out to dinner, or lunch or even breakfast....this is our time......I also love my crock pot....but....

tonight my son and his family was invited over for dinner and I came home and started cooking...it felt good but really.....take out would have been better for me......lets see what they say .....

oops....got to put up the spaghetti......this is fun.....

White Stuff

OK who put that white stuff all over the streets?  We were not supposed to get it and here I just woke up and it has covered my back yard and the front is getting it too.....I am not a snow person...I repeat, I am not a snow person.....but it does make great pictures.....will try to get some on my way to work and post later.....be careful out there, fellow new yorkers.....

            I dont eat steak.

            Only one thing...when you hear of a death - it usually comes in threes.....and it has always happened...unfortunately.
3.  Who is your best friend (not including your spouse)?
             My friend Grace who I have known since our boys were in Kindergarten....they are now 35.
4.  When is the last time your wore a dress (for the guys...a suit)?
               At my son's wedding 2-1/2 years ago....lol...didnt even realize that one.
5.  Do you have any trips scheduled?
        not at this time but am looking into a cruise (never been on one) for the summer of 2011....

Last Pearl Necklace

Today I finished my last pearl necklace

because I am not really a lover of pearls but I am sure there are others out there who love pearls...I now plan to work with a new medium......called quilling.....


I am going to try my hand at it...been practicing all day and hopefully I will make something worth showing here.....If you have done anything with quilling, feel free to comment and help me out, as I am clueless....but hopefully this kit will help.....

Another Necklace

It seems that time is just flying away...I do get upstairs to my craft/computer room to make a few things in between working a full time job and babysitting grandkids.  I do get a whole week off for Winter Recess which is around Christmas time, so hopefully I will have more time to craft....

Meantime....here is the latest - a pretty necklace.....just placed in my store...

While blogging and surfing and anything else that I do on the computer I came across something called paper quilling.....and treated myself to a starter kit.....I ordered it from Quilled Creations 

and just received an email that it has been shipped....Lets see what I can do with this!  Love working new crafts....
