Secret Daughter

I am 76% done with a book I downloaded on my Kindle ..... when I originally downloaded it I wasnt sure I would even be interested in it.....But it came recommended....so I tried it even though the author, Shilpi Somaya Gowda wrote this book as her first time novel.

BUT Ms. Gowda outdid herself in this story......and I am hoping to finish up this book tonight.....It's India.....Imagine your husband is unhappy about your giving birth to a girl baby....imagine he kills that child....what would you do?  Your second child is a girl too....but somehow you keep it away from your husband, and give it to an orphanage....your third child is a boy and hubby is ok with that.


This is a story of a mother's anguish about giving away her daughter...does a day ever go by when she doesnt think about her.......it's a story about another couple in the US who could not have children; they adopt the little girl given away to the orphanage.....will these lives ever intertwine?  Will mom find her daughter.....with mom lose her daughter?  


If there is only one book you read this year......pick this one up.....you wont be disappointed....emotional, heart wrenching, moving, and thought provoking.

As I scrolll

through my Google Reader   I click on the blogs I am interested.   But which ones are those.....which ones do you click on.....the ones with pictures?  or do you click on the ones with content you would like to read further about.

I find I was clicking on picture filled blogs.....but then when I really stopped to read some blogs without pictures......I got interested enough to click on them.....

So the questions is......What makes you click on a blog in Google Reader?  The content or the picture?

BERMUDA #1

From time to time I will be blogging about my upcoming cruise to Bermuda.  In my anxiousness to go I feel I should learn a few things about this island I will be visiting this summer.

My port is Kings Wharf.....what do I know about it?  Havent got a clue.....so I will be doing some research and filling my head and yours up with some information....so maybe, one day you will travel there too.

King’s Wharf, better known as the Royal Naval Dockyard, is located on Ireland Island, on the western most tip of Bermuda. Work began on this massive complex in 1809, shortly after the Napoleonic War. Built by slave and convict labor, it was to be a strategic British military outpost, but closed its gates in 1951 when the US military had established a military presence on the island with 2 bases. Since then, the 75 acre site has been renovated to accommodate shops, restaurants, museums, a movie theatre, The Arts Center and the Bermuda Craft Market.

.....and I will be visiting it soon....amazing....a military outpost that turned into a beautiful vacation site.  And they have a Craft Market......oh boy, right up my alley......

Books, more Books and Loads of Books

I have spent my life reading.  I love books and throughout my many years of living.....I have collected many books.....I love novels, fictions, some biographies and absolutely adore mysteries.  I love the who-done-its and why and trying to figure out the bad guy before the end.......

And in all my years of reading, yes the books were all over the house, in my car and at work.  So I was delighted when I finally received, as a gift, from who else but hubby, my very own Kindle.  Now I have had my Kindle for over a year and have already downloaded close to 200 books.  Imagine if I had 200 books laying around the house!  I think I did at one time.

My favorite thing about the Kindle is the fact that I can finish a book, say while in a doctor's office, and then go right into another book.

Now that I have one I often tell people who ask me "what can I get you as a gift?"  - to please, please get me gift cards....love them from dunkin donut cards, to macys and now especially Amazon.......because I can now download more books.


I know many people are not into gift cards.....but recently my daughter-in-law celebrated a birthday and she is a great gift giver.......I couldnt think of anything she needed or would like and then.......

She owns a Nook....another e-reader......and she carries it everywhere.....so why not.....and that's what I did....sent her Barnes & Noble gift cards.......and she loved it.....I felt so good that I finally got her something she was thrilled with.....


So my question is:  WHAT TYPES OF GIFTS DO YOU BUY YOUR GROWN CHILDREN ??

One IPod Touch.....lost last week in the house.  How come you can never find anything that is lost in the house.  I knew it was here but didnt have any idea where.

and I felt like I lost an arm.  All my apps are there including the one I will be using when I start my exercise plan......Mmm now I do have to start it.....well, thanks to my son who is the greatest finder in the world......it was stuck under the couch (where I look a zillion times)......


I will start my exercise......I will start my exercise......and listen to my music.....but now I must go to work......

Well, by hook or crook I will be attending the Whole Bead Show.....got my discount ticket and just making plans now for going.  I plan to buy many beads, take many pictures and just have a good time......hope to see you there.....

When I first visited this shop I really didnt know what to expect.  Actually, I had no idea what it was about....So I had to dig in and do some research.  First I was hit with the words - It's my Anniversary.....so apparently Danizabeth has been around for two years....and all I saw was old cars and guitars.....????

But if you go to her profile you will find she talks about nostalgia and retro.  Hanging out at salvage yards with her dad.  Looking for and finding keys to old cars.  She tells us she went to college for graphic designs; and even dabbled in painting.  But she found her true calling when going with her dad and taking over 330 photos in the salvage yard and producing prints of some of the most interesting pictures I have ever seen.

So please take a look at these images, and I hope you can enjoy  the character each subject has to offer. I know I did......this one being my favorite.
