Doctor's Office

How do you feel about Doctor's Offices.....As I get older, and its getting there a bit too quickly, I find myself in the doctor's office quite often.  I have had my share of hospitals and now there are many things that are creeping up on me that I have to look into.......you know, aching this and aching that.

Well, I wont go into my illnesses, that is not what this blog is about.  The other day I was sitting in the doctor's office and jotted down a note to blog about how people react in them.  I took the time to check out my fellow patients and was amazed that everyone reacts differently.

Now - me - I take this long period of time of waiting to read....I am an avid reader and feel that this time is perfect for me and my Kindle......I observed there were those who got up every 20 minutes to ask the receptionist "how long"  (that's a fav of hubby).....others were content to watch the tv they so nicely supplied in the area. 

Others actually left the room - to where? - and came back an hour later....and then there were the phoners.....(no such word).....they took this time to talk, and talk, and talk....very annoying to us readers.....I silence my phone.....and dont want to hear from anyone.....

So, tell me..how do you spend that long, long time you spend in the doctor's office waiting to be seen for your appointment?

Cameras........

Everyone has one....if not they have one on their phone.  I have an iphone....great camera....but I would like YOUR opinion on a great camera.  This year's cruise I will be taking loads of pictures and not sure what kind of camera to use.  I have my phone.....then I have a small point and shoot Casio Exilim 8 mp.....and then I also have my Olympus LSR E520......which I love but it is a bit cumbersome and heavy.....

I love taking close up pictures, but the Casio doesnt do a good job and my Olympus has to be set to too many different settings to use.  I read a blog about the Lumix DMC-ZS10 that seems to take great pictures.....but.....it's over $400....over my budget right now.  Especially since the Olympus set me back some money.

Might look into a cheaper Lumix for now.....Any suggestions?  What do you use for your pictures?  And how do you like it?

Birthdays......

How do you celebrate?  Spring is birthday time in this family.....loads to celebrate from April through July....we rest in August....then September, October...back at  it again....

When the kids were young we celebrated all the time with pizza and ice cream cake......

and everyone had a great time.....Now that they are grown it seems so hard for all of us to gather....but we make the best of it......and as long as well wishes are had by all, that's what counts........


Of course, we do get another chance with the grandkids......because those we are celebrating now, keep up young and remind us of the days when our kids were excited about pizza and ice cream.......

Passover...winding down

Now that the cleaning and cooking have been done, it is time to relax.....or sleep.  The exhaustion is tremendous but we all get through it.....so here are a few pictures of the before.....then family and friends gathered for a delightful meal.......I am now allowed to post some pictures pre-Passover......

Meat, chicken, spices and onions....lots of onion.........

Chicken soup of course, with matzah ballls....

This recipe from a friend is the first time I tried it.....slices white potatoes, sliced sweet potatoes....saute onions and layer in a pan..........very simple, and delicious....

My broccoli quiche......

....and of course there is always something sweet............

In Honor of Earth Day....My Two Cents

....the question for today is: "When did waste start?" Are we so pre-occupied with getting better, getting farther, getting richer, getting bigger that we dont care how we get there.....move over, make room for ME......

And in doing so we have raped the Earth of its beauty and left in its place - WASTE.  So why dont we Recycle and Reuse  - is it so hard to do?  Make today the beginning of LOVING the Earth back....all it takes is that first step.

Turn us green.......especially with the start of Spring......

Love the Earth and it will love you back................and feel free to add Your Two Cents.....

Does any mother ever eat in peace?  Having had five, I dont remember.  It was bits and pieces here and there....at the stove, at the counter....there was way too much to do and no time to sit down and have a dinner.

but then again that's life with a houseful......now they are all grown....what is the excuse?  Grandkids.....even when I sit, I get up and do.......
