Bermuda Cruise - Part 5

So when we reach Bermuda we have 3 days to explore it.  We did take a bus tour that took us from Kings Wharf where we docked, through Hamilton, where we shopped, and the to St. George where we had lunch.....

The first bus we took the air conditioning broke down, so we road to Hamilton where we switched buses and managed to feel alot cooler.
I was also amazed at the "slowness" of the island.  Nothing was rushed, everyone was relaxed and it rubbed off on us....this takes you back to the old horse and carriage days......life must have been less stressful....
We stopped for lunch in St. George and here hubby is reading the menu......everything was expensive....but we were on vacation and treated ourselves this day....then back to the ship for our meals.
If you didnt want to tour by bus, there were taxis who were willing to take you wherever you wanted to go....stay with you until you finished shopping or touring......everyone was so happy, smiling and polite....made you feel good.
I took this picture just to show the colors of this lovely boat which was another way to tour the island.....Bermuda itself is only 21 miles............but is so full of life it wants to make you stay forever.....

Bermuda Cruise - Part 4

So everyday we returned to our cabin after sunbathing and found towels in the shapes of animals...how cute...there's hubby reading the next day's activities....there were so many things to do.....
Yes, that is the true color of the water - a beautiful blue and so clear.....
The day we were by the beach was cloudy and then it started to rain, so while I did take some pictures it sure wasnt a beach day.  I cant complain because Bermuda needed the rain....apparently - some trivia - they dont have a water system....their water to use to drink and bathe comes from rain.....it hits their roof, and tunnels into a rain barrel under their house....so no rain = no water.....

Although they did not have rain for awhile, the greens are so green and beautiful it looked like paradise every day.
I saw wildflowers all over and was so amazed at their beauty, I forgot to take more pictures....

The hibiscus grew all over the place and the smell was delightful...and although poisonous, they had oleander plants all over......I cant imagine living like this all year round......but I can sure try to get used to it.....imagine.......no snow...............

Bermuda Cruise - Part 3

If you werent content with just sitting around on a lounge chair....there were loads of things to do....like shuffleboard...although I have no idea how to play, it was fun watching others do it....

They had wall climbing (no I didnt even try it) and basketball courts...of course the netting was there to make sure you didnt miss the shot and the basketball ended up in the ocean....

We were often content to just sit and watch the water....it was very calm on the way to Bermuda and soooo relaxing.......the weather was excellent (not like in NY) with everyday around 80 degrees and low humidity......I am not a sun person, but even I basked in the sun everyday and just felt so good.
Eating seemed to a an ongoing habit on board.  But having already lost 45 lbs, I was not jeopardizing my hard work.....they had constant food going around and the atmosphere was intoxicating....but we watched what we ate and still enjoyed the food (had lots of fruit and veggies) and even had dessert - although sugar free, still tasted delicious - I even had glasses of wine and a Mai Tai one night - not all in the same night.....just didnt go overboard and am happy to say I LOST TWO LBS...

This was me........for most of the trip.........I can do this............I also managed to read three books on my Kindle.....click the link for book reviews if you want to know what I read.  It was nice not getting interrupted at all...........
Of course what helped alot was the jogging track.below.........although I am not a jogger I found myself walking alot more than usual.....hubby was up at 6 every morning to get on the track, while I was there later......just getting around the ship means alot of walking.....but I didnt mind it....such lovely surroundings and when done, I got to relax again........
Stay tuned for Part 4 tomorrow...........hope you are enjoying ...........

BESTeams Feature - ChickyDs

After being on vacation for a week in Bermuda it is so hard to get back to work....but here I am and my assignment this week is to feature ChickyDs......an Etsy shop owned by Danielle who is creative and lucky to be making - bows.....

I love bows.....but never could get my mother to use them...then I had 4 boys and 1 girl who was a tomboy...and alas I have 6 grandsons....so I am jealous of anyone who can use bows on their little girls....here are some of her creations........

and my favorite one is this hat.............

Danielle has clips, and bows and totes and this feature does not do justice to her shop which is loaded with so many lovely bows.....so if you have girls in your life......you must make a stop by ChickyDs...........and relish in her beautiful things.
