And then....

Well, after being diagnosed with neuropathy.....my world has gotten harder to manage.  But I am on the right track and have been trying to cope.  I put the pain in the back of my head (my meds help) and have been working on the brighter side of life.  Not for anything but I have 5 great children and 8 grandchildren who keep me busy and they are the love of my life.  I have a job where I get the whole summer off to relax or do whatever I want.....and I am currently looking into booking another cruise.  This summer wasnt so great, but who cares.  I am adopting the attitude that life will get better if I put my mind to it.

So as long as the grandkids are keeping me busy I have been running (I mean walking) to the aquarium and walking the boardwalk and enjoying this life and so far great weather.  It has actually cooled down enough to enjoy.

I have never heard of my illness until diagnosed....but after reading two books on it and researching on the internet...it doesnt seem like it will be cured.  It is something i will live with the rest of my life and I pray for the strength to do so.  There are far worst things to have i am sure and like all my other ills, I will get through this one.....attitude is the key.

I sometimes wonder how people cope with their illness..some worse than others...but we can either stay home and brood or go about life one day at a time.  Think of the positive things in life.....like my children and their children and a recent addition to my family.....a puppy....she's not really mine, but belongs to my son who lives downstairs...but she comes up for visits and is definitely a ray of sunshine in our lives.....

She's only 9 months old.....a Pomeranian......named Mitzi........

And its finished....

Five weeks of demolition, fixing, renovation, dust, disruption, use of one bathroom and no shower.......and its finally over....still need a shower door but at least have a shower...a curtain will do.....and few decorations.....

Love the outcome but until then it was a hectic five weeks.  Now to get the roof repaired because when installing the exhaust fan we found half the shingles gone, had a leak which we patched up....but really need a new roof....next project.....before hurricane season starts!

Monday Madness

Yes, this Monday is going to be maddening.....You see i have been on vacation for two months and although I am not officially due back to school until Sept 4....I will be going in on Monday to set up my desk, and get back into the swing of things.

Although the kids will not be in, I am sure there will be parents registering and teachers popping in to set up their classrooms.  I have mixed feelings about returning...while I enjoy getting up late and doing whatever I want....I feel at this point in the summer I need more structure and  a little more organizing of my day.....so I guess I am not ready for retirement just yet.   :)

You would think with all the time I supposedly had I would have blogged more but somehow I never found the time....so now that I will be going back to work, I will probably have more time to blog.....does that make sense?

Another great book....you must read

Gone GirlGone Girl by Gillian Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow great book. The book follows the activities of Nick and Amy. Married and not loving it. Amy disappears and Nick is accused of killing her. The chapters switch back and forth between them and each one is more psycho than the other. After a while you are not sure how the book will end......actually I am still not sure how it ended. Fast reading. If you want to read something different-then this is definitely a book you must read.

Book Review......

Mini Skirts and Laughter LinesMini Skirts and Laughter Lines by Carol E. Wyer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Follow the life of Amanda who at turning fifty like most of us, she seems lost. What to do with her life now that her husband has retired. Son is grown, although still living at home, with a husband who is quite content to live in the den with his financial news. So she proceeds to write a blog about her life. As a blog writer and follower I truly enjoyed the antics of Amanda and actually related to so many of her daily writings. If you write a blog, you will smile and cry with Amanda and relate to all the blogging friends she accumulates. There is even a surprise or two toward the end of the book. Bravo Carol for a lovely read and looking forward to your next book!
